Tourist visa requirements

We are about to lodge a tourist visa for my mother online. I got most of our supporting docs electronically (bank statements, work certificates, pay slips etc).
Questions:
1. Do I need to make certified copies of each documents even if I am doing an online
application? (they are all originals already and willing to send all originals docs, why make a
certified copies?)
2. Has anyone here has experienced applying online? Can you share your insight?
