De Facto Declaration for Students

Hi, I am planning to declare my boyfriend as a dependent/de facto for my student visa.

The issue is that I'll be doing that on my renewal this Nov. 2014

Meaning, in the current student visa that I'm holding, he was not declared as de facto, because I didn't know that it is possible.

Is it still possible to include him as de facto on my renewal or will it cause any discrepancies.
