Overstay, am I eligible to work in Australia?

'I'm planning to work to Australia, 457 visa , but I have overstayed my Canadian visa when I worked there, I know this will affect my application to Australia. Do I have to declare that I have been in Canada in my application? I just want to get this off my chest.... Any advice would be appreciated..'
