The violence portrayed on T.V and in the movies leads to an increase in crime in our society. People who watch violent movies are more likely to become criminals. Do you agree or disagree? Essay (299 words) Entertainment has come a long way since it's inception in the early years and with it comes with a large variety of violent shows, series, and movies alike. This becomes a concern for us as this influence crime in our society negatively. In this essay, I will discuss the ways it affects our view of crime and other malicious acts. While it true that violence being represented in the movies count as entertainment, we cannot ignore the fact that it affects our attitude towards crime. We often see movie-goers elated and coming out of a cinema after watching a thrilling, high-adrenaline action movie with gun fights, car chase scenes and even killings. It points to one obvious fact - that after seeing such kind of shows our moral code of what is good and bad has been tainted and misaligned. Unconsciously, we are allowing such portrayals to imbue in our minds a different set of morality. What is bad becomes good and acceptable, even entertaining. Research shows that over time, those who watch violent movies develop a tendency to be more aggressive, short tempered and easily provoked. All of which leads to easily committing a crime that they later regret. Furthermore, a study conducted concerning prisoners who committed a form of maltreatment to others, may it be physical abuse, beating, homicide and even murder, revealed that at the point which they committed the act, they were imagining a scene in a movie that they have watched. The imprint of such kind of entertainment is truly horrifying. In conclusion, violent movies should not just be accounted as mere entertainment as this might lead to an increase crime and violence around us. We should all be concerned about what we feed our minds as this builds the society we live in.
