Another way of looking for work.

Hi Kababayans,

I know that some of us came here in Oz with high hopes of getting work right away. Due to certain situations some of us ended up with nothing on our plate. I am not sure if some of you heard of the following but these are just few pathways that may lead to potential work opportunity or at least to get busy about and gain few trainings at no cost.

Please read all about Skilled Migrant Mentoring Program, the program differs from one state to another. Basically this will give you some unpaid work experience as most companies look for someone with local experience. Treat this as way to get networks.

Please read about Skillmax as well. Community colleges usually offer this free as long as you pass the requirement. This focuses on teaching you how to draft resume the Autralian way and practices your interview prowess and how to answer those selection criteria we often read but some are doubtful on what to write.

Please google councils near your area as they hire people as well. Not to include working for not for profit organisations.

Just keep in mind that there are other job opportunities aside from what private companies offer. At times work offer from councils and not for profit organisations are better of in terms of perks.
