Moving to Byron Bay

Hi everyone! I am planning to go to Byron Bay quite soon through a student visa. This is for people who have been/stayed there. What is it like? Are there filipino communities there as well? I am currently living near the sea that's why I am quite attracted to Byron. I did a search and found no other coastal towns with good surf too, but a little worried about availability of part time work for students. I am thinking about Sydney as well for practicality if byron isnt viable.

Please let me know your suggestions.

    I've been to Byron Bay, but only for vacation. It's a small town, mostly 'surfer' types and tourists. Not sure if there are Filipino communities there -- honestly, didn't notice. I'm sure you can find part time work -- although maybe in hospitality as there are quite a few boutique hotels and restaurants in the area.

    Sydney might have more options. Have also been more than 3 times. While it's a city, it's not as hectic as Manila.
